Whipps Cross redevelopment paused until 2029/30.

We are working to transform Whipps Cross to deliver a brand new hospital, up to 1,500 homes, and new parks and green spaces.

Following a government review of the national New Hospital Programme, Barts Health has been advised that construction of the new Whipps Cross Hospital is now estimated to begin between 2032-34, with completion between 2036 and 2038. Whipps Cross redevelopment paused until 2029/30

Whilst the new car park will be completed and open as planned in Autumn 2025, the main redevelopment programme has now been 'paused' until 2029/30. Please visit the Barts Health website for the latest news on the project.
